Students in China will be able to attend face-to-face classes in Shanghai this fall thanks to the Graduate Pathway Program offered by Clark University’s American Language and Culture Institute. The program will be presented in partnership with CIEE and will be hosted at the prestigious East China Normal University (ECNU) campus. CIEE Shanghai is located on the campus of ECNU.
“While Clark intends to have on-campus classes this fall, we recognize that it may not be possible for international students to travel to the U.S. Our goal is to meet our students’ educational needs and provide flexible, convenient study options,” says Jeremiah Czub, senior director of graduate enrollment management at Clark.
The curriculum in Shanghai will be the same as is taught at Clark’s Worcester campus. Students will take graduate level classes, earning credit toward a Clark master’s degree, as well as advanced English courses.
“From day one, students will be exposed to engaging coursework in both their field of study and English. Over the course of the program, they will also have the opportunity to connect and interact with Clark faculty and staff, as well as current Clark students and alumni who work and live in Shanghai,” says Sarah Lopolito, director of the American Language and Culture Institute.
The students will become adept at using the English language to articulate ideas, she adds, but — more importantly — will develop international networking and cross-cultural communication skills while they build a solid foundation for academic and professional success.
The Clark University Graduate Pathway Program semester starts on October 8, 2020 and concludes on January 8, 2021. The program features pre-arrival orientation as well as orientation upon arrival to campus. Information about available housing on ECNU’s campus will be provided to interested students.
“We are very excited to offer our future students this opportunity to remain on schedule to meet their educational goals,” says Czub, who will host a webinar about the program on July 8 at 8 a.m. EDT. Interested students can register for the webinar here.
