Clark’s graduate students have had solid success in the recent job market thanks to their diligence, dedication, and experience. The positive results are all indicative of early engagement with Clark’s career planning resources, including conversations with advisers and alumni, and polishing résumé and interview skills. Resilience and patience have been the keys to success since the onset of COVID-19.

Samantha Arsenault ’15, M.A. ’16 realizes that every part of the addiction spectrum has been affected by the “perfect storm” of COVID-19. Those affected by addiction will face even greater challenges during this time as people are forced to stay at home, away from their communities, support networks, and regular activities. The pandemic is taxing all areas of the health care system, including treatment and recovery services.

Buba Sulle Dicko always knew that he had something to say. “I felt like there was a message within me that people needed to listen to,” he says.

“Climate change is a defining issue of our time,” says Kortni Wroten. The Clark University graduate student, pursuing a dual MBA/master’s in environmental science and policy, recently returned from the UN’s Climate Change Conference (COP25) in Madrid, where she and twelve fellow graduate students observed negotiations, networked, and engaged with climate groups and activists from all over the world — including Swedish teen Greta Thunberg.

For the African elephant, the numbers are bleak. 

MUN Impact announced recently that three graduate students in Clark University’s Master’s in Geographic Information Science program have been selected to intern with the organization. “We are excited to see how their considerable expertise shapes the public facing experience for the MUN Impact community in our new and exciting data-driven initiatives,” said the organization.

Janae Davis, a doctoral student in Clark’s Graduate School of Geography, has been awarded a 2019 Switzer Environmental Fellowship from the Robert and Patricia Switzer Foundation.  Davis is one of 20 environmental leaders from graduate schools in New England and California who received the fellowship based on their leadership accomplishments, leadership potential, and commitment to environmental protection, innovation, and applied outcomes.

On October 23-24, Clark University assistant research professor Margaret Post and Drew Astolfi ’91 co-hosted “Innovations and Adaptations in Community Organizing Training: A Learning Conversation.” The meeting was an opportunity for national leaders in community organizing to discuss leadership development training in social change organizations. Participants included Warren Heyman ’77, representing the labor union UNITE HERE, Paul Getsos, the founder of People’s Climate Movement, and leaders from Midwest Academy, Center for Popular Democracy, and Massachusetts Communities Action Network.
